Sickness, leaving and a fall craft

That title was the best I could come up with for this post. This week has really flown by! Tuesday, our sweet little Anleigh became very fussy and started running some fever. I took her to the doctor Weds. afternoon and guess what..........????? EAR INFECTION!!!!!!! My kids have never really had much of a problem with those, hopefully this is a one time thing! We're pumping her up with some antibiotics and she is getting back to her sweet self.
We been getting the in Fall mood around here. This past week's weather has given us the fuzzy feeling of fall. I came across this cute little project the other day and the kids absolutely love it! If your not doing much this weekend try it out, I even enjoyed it!

Make your own pumpkin patch:

Supplies (makes about ten 1 ½” pumpkins):
Salt, ½ cup
Warm water, ½ cup
Flour, 1 cup (not self-rising)
Toothpick for shaping dough
Acrylic paint, orange and black
Paintbrushes, large and small
Small sticks for pumpkin stems, about 10
Step 1: Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Mix warm water with salt in a mixing bowl until salt dissolves. Add flour and let the kids mix by hand.Step 2: Let the kids roll the dough into small balls and make the pumpkin striations with the side of a toothpick. Poke a hole in the top for the stem (which will be inserted later).Step 3: Bake on an ungreased pan for 2-2 ½ hours.Step 4: Allow to cool. Paint with acrylic paints. Be sure to have your kids wear their paint clothes as acrylic paint stains. Insert the small sticks or branches into the tops of the pumpkins. Done!Tip: Be sure to store your pumpkins in an airtight container after Halloween so the critters don’t try to take a bite! Here are some variations on this project if you want to take it a step further:
Roll the pumpkins in glue, then glitter.
Make a pumpkin person doll by putting the pumpkin on top of a wooden doll pin (poke a hole in the bottom of your pumpkin before cooking the dough).
Make ornaments for a pumpkin tree by inserting a metal ornament hanger in the top just after the pumpkins come out of the oven.
Add leaves to the top or twisty stems made from green pipe cleaners.

(Of course, first you have to taste it!)

And make a really BIG mess!

Bet you haven't seen many pumpkins that look like these?????

( One-armed)Buzz Lightyear was the inspiration for......
Speaking of Buzz, I 've finally caved in and let the boys pick one of those tacky "Character" costumes for trunk or treat this year. Wanna guess what they picked?.......

I almost forgot, the other part of this post, leaving. The boys are on fall break next week, so we will be doing some traveling. Me and the kids are leaving for my parents tomorrow after Luke's field trip to the pumpkin patch (the real one!). I probably won't post for a week or so. But I'll tell you about all of our adventures when we get back!!!!
