First, we crushed the pecans which represents the soldiers beating Jesus' body.

Next we added the vinegar that they offered Jesus when He was thirsty. But they had to smell it first!

Then we added egg whites that represents life.
Next is the Salt, like the salty tears shed by His followers and to remind us of the bitterness of our sin.

Then we added sugar, because the sweetest part of the story is that Jesus died because He loves us so much.
Then mixed it for 15 mins. until it became white and fluffy. The color white represents the purity we receive when we become a christian.
(We had a little taste test!)

Then we placed spoonfuls onto a wax paper-lined cookie sheet. Each mound represents the rocky tomb Jesus' body was laid.
Then we placed the cookies into the oven and taped it shut to represent the stone covering the tomb.

Then they had to wait 'til Easter morning to open the "tomb" and see what was inside.(excuse the filthy "tomb"!)

The surprise is when you bite into the cookie it's empty inside! Just like the tomb on Easter morning!

And they are scrumptious! They taste like divinity.
After that we continued the Easter fun by dying and decorating some eggs. I picked up this crazy monster egg kit at Wally World. The boys loved making egg monsters!

I still have Easter morning to cover, but I'll fill ya in about that on the next post. This one is long enough! The kids are napping and I need a shower!
