For those of you who don't know Doug's dad passed away Thursday, August 27. We came back today. We left last Thur. and arrived there about 3pm. He passed away around 11pm that night. I truly believe he was holding on to see us and let us say goodbye. The kids got to kiss him and tell him goodnight before they went to bed.
I guess one of the hardest part of all this is trying to explain all of it to a 3 & 4 year old. Trying to explain the difference between body and spirit. But the sweetest part is how innocent they view it. Luke has been saying, "PawPaw is in the clouds".
We've been telling them that he is with Jesus now in Heaven. When we told them we were going to go see PawPaw at the funeral home Sam asked, "Is Jesus going to be there?" Those are the little things that can either make you smile or cry a river!
We also had lots of time to spend with Chaz and Braden, Doug's sister's boys. Chaz is 7 and Braden is 5. You can imagine how much fun they all have together!
This is at the park in Cedartown.
My parents were wonderful enough to come and babysit for me so I could be with Doug during the funeral, but we decided to bring the kids to the graveside. After the burial, all the boys were "exploring" around the cemetery when I heard Sam screaming. He bumped a concrete vase over and his finger got smashed between the vase and a brick. It looks AWFUL!!!!
